Pet portrait commission - Border Collie running through golden field

Pet Portrait Commission

They're not just pets—they're family. A commissioned pet portrait captures the personality and soul of your furry (or feathered, or scaled) companion.

Whether celebrating a beloved companion or honoring one who's crossed the rainbow bridge, these portraits capture what makes your pet uniquely them— the tilt of their head, the gleam in their eye, the personality that makes them irreplaceable.

I paint pets with the same attention and care I bring to human portraits, because they deserve nothing less.

I've Painted

  • Dogs of all breeds and mixes
  • Cats (distinguished and otherwise)
  • Horses and other large companions
  • Unusual pets—if you love them, I'll paint them

Memorial Pet Portraits

Losing a pet is losing a family member. Memorial portraits are some of the most meaningful work I do. If you're honoring a companion who's passed, I'll handle your photos and memories with care, creating a piece that celebrates the joy they brought to your life. There's no rush—take your time, and reach out when you're ready.

Timeline

Pet portraits typically take 4-6 weeks. They're popular gifts, so book early if you're planning for a birthday or holiday.

Memorial portraits are never rushed. We'll work on your timeline, whatever that looks like.

Getting Great Photos

You don't need professional photos—phone pictures work great. Here's what helps me capture your pet's personality:

Helpful

  • Natural daylight (near a window or outside)
  • Eye level with your pet
  • Clear view of their face and eyes
  • Photos that show their personality
  • Multiple angles (even if they're not perfect)

Less Ideal

  • Flash photography (flattens features)
  • Heavy filters or editing
  • Very dark or blurry images
  • Only one photo to work from

Don't worry if your photos aren't perfect—send what you have and I'll let you know if I need more.

The Process

1

Tell Me About Your Pet

What's their name? Their personality? Their favorite spot to nap? The more I know about who they are, the better I can capture them.

2

Share Your Photos

Send me your favorites—the ones that make you smile. I'll select the best reference angles and let you know if I need anything else.

3

Watch Them Come to Life

I'll send progress photos as the portrait develops. There's something magical about watching your pet's eyes appear on the canvas.

4

Welcome Them Home (Again)

Your finished portrait ships carefully packaged. Hang it somewhere you'll see it every day and smile.
